The Right Organic Anti Wrinkle Night Creams Can Rejuvenate Aging Skin Safely and Effectively

If you’re looking to rejuvenate aging skin safely and effectively while you sleep, then there’s no better option than organic anti wrinkle night creams. This article will explain what you should look for in a night cream in order to assure that it’s both safe and effective.

If you have not made the switch to all-natural skin care products yet, then now is a better time than ever. As you may already know, way too many skin care products are being made with ingredients that have no business being applied to your skin and absorbed into your bloodstream. By using organic anti wrinkle creams, you don’t have to worry about hurting your skin more than you actually help it.

As far as effectiveness goes, the ingredient list is the tell-all of skin care products. An organic anti wrinkle night cream or lotion can only be as effective as the ingredients it’s made with. Not only do you want to find a product with the right kind of ingredients, but you also want to make sure they are included in high enough concentrations to be effective. They also need to be small enough molecularly to penetrate through your skin’s epidermis and INTO the dermis where wrinkles are created.

What kind of ingredients should you be looking for in an organic anti wrinkle night cream? Well, night creams differ from day creams in that they contain heavier ingredients. But besides that, you mainly want to make sure a product contains ingredients that target the major causes of wrinkles and other unwanted aging signs. The primary ones that any type of anti-wrinkle product should address are:

*Low levels of collagen and elastin protein within the skin make the skin less firm and elastic

*Free radical damage and oxidative stress break down your skin cells

*Inflammation disturbs normal cell functioning

*Lack of moisture retention encourages wrinkle formation and other skin conditions

Neem Oil – Homemade Remedies and Soap Recipes!

Neem oil is a vegetable oil from the Azadirachta indica evergreen, (Neem tree). It has a strong mixed aroma of garlic and peanut butter. It varies in color from golden yellow, yellow-brown, red-brown, dark brown, green-brown to bright red. At room temperature it remains a liquid. Exposure to cold temperatures, (below fifity-five degrees), causes separation, thick consistency and solidification. As a liquid, it quickly absorbs into skin without a greasy feeling.

Neem is used in commercial and homemade products for people and pets: soaps, lotions, creams, shampoos and sprays. It’s rising in popularity in Europe and the USA. Neem bark, leaves, fruit, seeds and oils all have medicinal properties.

The Neem tree grows up to sixty-six feet with wide spreading branches, white fragrant flowers and fruit, similar in appearance to olives. It thrives in sub-tropical or tropical regions. It’s native to India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

OIL EXTRACTION METHODS

Neem oil is extracted by cold presing seeds, mechanical pressing, steam pressure or by chemical solvents. It is highly unlikely the exact same mix of compnenets will be produced more than once during extraction. The oil content in Neem seeds is higher than in the leaves.

— Cold Pressing: These oils retaing their flavor, aroma and nutritional value.

— Mechanical Pressing: Dried Neem seeds are fed into a mechannical pressing machine. Oil is collected in a drum with unwanted particles filtered out. This oil is lighter in color and odor when compared to toher extraction methods.

— Steam and High Pressure: Neem seeds are fed into a steam boiler, causing seeds to sweell. Squeezing the oil becomes easier. Oil is driven from the seeds, due to the steam and boiler pressure, without any pressing. Unwanted particles are filtered out. This method is not as good as others, since heat degrades flavor, nutrional value, color and may expose toxins.

— Chemical Solvents: A petroleum/alcohol solvent is mixed with seeds after drying. Solvents only help to extract oil out of the kernel up to a percentage. In addition, Neem seeds may be prerssed. Maxium oil extraction is ensured with this method.

NEEM CAUTIONS

— Avoid if pregnant or trying to conceive.

— Keep away from children, the weak and elderly.

— May cause skin sensitivities at high concentrations. Test Neem based solution on small area of skin before using on larger area.

— Avoid use with pre-existing medical condition. Consult health care provider.

Neem oil is potent! It can irritate the skin and scalp. It must always be diluted in carrier oil, soap, lotion, shampoo or buffering agent to minimize risk of irritation.

The Story of Organic Cosmetics

Everyone wants to look their best at all times. In fact, looking good has been pursued by mankind for centuries. Cosmetics in general and even organic cosmetics have pretty long history.

If you have ever looked at pictures of Egyptian Hieroglyphics, then you must have noticed that the faces of the people in those depictions were painted. The eyes are striking and the mouths are defined. The intention of depicting people in that manner was to draw attention to the sharp features.

Egyptians strongly believed in the adage 'cleanliness is next to godliness'. So they came up with many products and cosmetics not just to keep clean but also to enhance their looks. You might find this little hard to believe, but by around 15 to 20 BC they had already developed cosmetics that could get rid of scars, wrinkles, and even stretch marks.

After this long and interesting connection with the past, the cosmetics industry as we know it today established itself only in the 20th century.

The Rise of Natural Cosmetics

Organic and natural cosmetics are unduly a roaring success as an industry. But how did it come to be the way it is today? Where did the idea come from after such a long dependence on chemical cosmetics?

There is an old saying 'beauty is dangerous'. While the veracity of this statement is open to discussion, many of us do not realize that what is actually dangerous are the products full of chemicals that we use to look beautiful. History has recorded a multitude of cases wherein beauty products that were very popular and in wide use contained such harmful substances as formaldehyde, arsenic, mercury and lead.

Even after all the research that proves these chemicals are dangerous, they are still used to some degree in cosmetics today. While most people do not really bother thinking about long-term consequences, there were people within the industry who had higher standards of ethics and who felt that an alternative needed to be found.

This led to the creation of cosmetics that used only natural and organic ingredients. Natural skin care is a very old concept. Natural products were used in China and the Middle East as early as the 4th millennium BC. There were several skin conditions that were easily treatable when natural remedies were used. Even today, many people who have ultra-sensitive skin or other skin problems turn to natural products for relief.

Skin Care Products & Hygiene

More than 95% of our body is covered with skin and as such, preventative measures need to be employed with the help of skin care products and hygiene products to sustain a healthy body. Primary importance needs to be given to skin care because it is said to absorb about 60% of chemicals which can adversely harm our body. Our body is exposed to all forms of external pollutants and dangerous micro-organisms which can be kept at bay with the help of an array of quality skin care products available in the market.

Most of us are conscious of our hygiene and tend to use organic skin care products on a daily basis. These natural skin-care products are an alternative to chemical based products; they efficiently fight germs and at the same time do not harm the skin.

The environment in which we spend most of our time determines the level of exposure to dirt and bacteria. The risk of infection is more when we don’t take adequate precaution and care. Soiled hands contribute to a significant number of ailments in the body. Usage of antibacterial hand wash, hair and body wash, skin cleaners, moisturizers and latex gloves greatly reduces the risk. In addition, these products are gentle and safe on the skin.

The skin-care products available today are rich in fragrance and effective in removing grease and tough stains. They come in compact packs, which can be stored conveniently. Bulk packs available are a cost-effective solution for use in offices and clinics.

Our first line of defense to safeguard our body is by the proper use of quality skin care & hygiene products. A healthy body boosts self confidence. As the saying goes, ‘cleanliness is next to godliness’ and ‘prevention is better than cure.’

Eco Skincare – Is it Ethical to Use Beeswax in Beauty Products As the Bees Continue to Vanish?

Einstein is rumored to have predicted that if bees disappear from our planet, mankind will soon perish. Although it is not proven whether the great scientist said this or not, our scientists are worried.

Wild bee populations are being wiped out by a parasitic mite and beekeepers are working hard to protect their farmed bees from the same fate.

As the bees vanish we take a look at the bee and the issue of beeswax, ethics and skincare.

Beeswax (or cera alba as it is listed on ingredients labels) is an ingredient used by both commercial skin care manufacturers and many natural and organic skin care producers.

Beeswax is obtained from the honeycomb of bees in the hive and used in skincare as an emulsifier and thickener, as well as for its reputed skin care benefits.

People choosing to buy natural and organic skin care expect green, eco and ethical credentials from the producers.

Cruelty-free is high on the list for green and ethical shoppers which is why it is important to look at the question of bees and beeswax.

Most vegans do not eat honey or use bee products although generally speaking vegetarians do.

The Vegan Society condemns the use of all bee products such as honey, beeswax, propolis and royal jelly.

According to the Vegan Society exploitation of and cruelty to bees consists of:

  • Bee farming
  • Cruel treatment of the Queen bee
  • Wing-clipping
  • Killing bees when harvesting honey comb
  • Use of artificial food and pesticides
  • Vivisection
  • Destruction of hives.

Pretty damning, don’t you think. Or is it?

Looking further into the issue it would appear that not all beekeepers employ the above methods.

Whilst it is true that most if not all commercial bee farms do practice cruelty towards bees, many small ‘local’ beekeepers are more ethical.

The independent beekeeper would argue that the bees’ welfare is the most important thing to them, both as a moral obligation towards the bees and in favor of good sense for the small business.

On many small bee farms the bees are given extra room for their hives, the bees enjoy working and make more honey than they need, and by the use of pesticides they are protected from deadly mites, parasites and fungi that are killing wild bee colonies. Beekeepers are also keen to point out that although it does happen on large commercial bee farms, they themselves do not kill off the bees or destroy their hives.

Sadly the numbers of small, caring, ethical beekeepers is far outweighed by the huge commercial bee farms meeting the demand of even bigger commercial companies wanting large quantities of cheap product, regardless of the cost to the bees.

And the question of exploitation remains as the bees are still kept and farmed for their monetary value.

It is therefore important to choose cruelty-free natural and organic beauty products. This is not as easy as it sounds. Beeswax is a predominant ingredient in commercial and natural skincare, but there are bee-friendly alternatives so read the literature, website information and product ingredients carefully.

It is not enough for skincare producers to claim to be against animal testing. If in doubt, ask!

A UK natural skincare company called Maia Skin Care (http://www.maiaskincare.co.uk) believes in using only cruelty-free ingredients. They do not use any bee product in their natural beauty products and have excellent green ethics. All their products are vegan-friendly and free from beeswax, honey and any other ingredients derived from bees.

New Organic Recipes To Treat Your Feet

Skin Care is an all over body process because your skin is the largest and most protective organ you have. Your feet are especially vulnerable because they take constant abuse from friction and elements but they do not produce sebum, which is your natural oil. These organic skin care recipes for feet are fabulous when used in conjuction with a good foot care schedule. With all of our recipes, we urge you to buy organic ingredients because your skin absorbs pesticides and commercial chemicals from products which are not organic.

Honey Cleanser

This mild organic cleanser is terrific for feet because of its natural moisturizing and antibacterial qualities. Wet your foot and apply 1 tablespoon organic clover honey to a warm, wet washcloth rub entire foot thoroughly, being sure to get between all toes and around toenails. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Foot Soaks

Foot soaks are an excellent way to care for the skin as well as add to your total sense of well being. They soften dry skin and energize tired feet. After soaking, moisturize with a good organic moisturizer (see our article on organic moisturizer recipes if you would like to make your own).

Energizing Foot Soak # 1

Add 4 cups warm organic whole milk, 2 tablespoons Epsom Salt, 2 tablespoons organic almond oil and 3 drops organic peppermint essential oil to a warm water foot bath. Soak feet for 15 minutes.

Energizing Foot Soak # 2

Add 2 drops of organic lemon essential oil, 2 drops or organic rosemary essential oil, and 4 tablespoons organic oat flour to a warm water foot bath. Soak for 15 to 20 minutes.

Relaxing Foot Soak # 1

Add 4 cups warm organic whole milk, 2 tablespoons Epsom Salt, and 6 drops organic lavender essential oil to a warm water foot bath. Soak for 15 minutes.

Relaxing Foot Soak # 2

Add 1/4 Epsom Salt, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 2 drops each of these organic essential oils: lemon, sandalwood, coriander to warm water foot bath. Soak for 15 to 20 minutes.

Dry Foot Soak # 1

Use warm whole organic milk and 3 drops organic lavender essential oil. Soak your feet for 15 to 20 minutes and follow with exfoliating treatment. Rinse well. Massage with a naturally applied heavy organic cream moisturizer and cover with cotton socks for the night.

Dry Foot Soak # 2

Add 3 cups organic pineapple juice and 1/2 cup organic coconut milk to a warm water foot bath. Soak for 10 to 15 minutes and follow with an exfoliating treatment. Rinse well. Massage with naturally applied heavy organic cream moisturizer and cover with cotton socks for the night.

Perspiration / Odor Resistance Soak

Add 6 drops of organic common tea tree essential oil to a warm water foot bath and soak for 15 to 20 minutes. Dry thoroughly to discourage fungal growth. Tea Tree essential oil has antibacterial, antifungal, and astringent properties which eliminate the various causes of foot odor.

Exfoliation

Exfoliating your feet is a necessity because of all the friction your feet encounter on a daily basis. The skin responds to this friction by creating more skin cells in areas that are being rubbed (think of calluses that form on your hands from raking leaves). To soften and rejuvenate your feet, this rough, dry build should be removed. Do not expect the area to be finished after one treatment. It took a while to get this point; it will take a bit of TLC to fix the problem. Always finish with a good moisturizer and use moisturizer at least twice daily; this helps keep the skin soft between exfoliation treatments which helps make you exfoliation more productive. All of the following exfoliation mixtures will work much better if used immediately after one of the above foot soaks.

Citrus Scrub

Mix 1 cup Epsom Salt, 3 teaspoons organic olive oil and the juice of one small lemon. Immediately massage soles of feet (do not give the Epsom Salt time to dissolve), giving extra attention to any areas of thick skin. Rinse with warm water.

Sour Cream Scrub

Rub just soaked feet with 1 cup organic cornmeal then apply a mixture of 1/4 cup organic sour cream and 2 tablespoons organic olive oil. Massage well, giving extra attention to thick skin. Rinse with warm water.

Odor Protection Foot Powder

Mix 1/4 cup organic ginger and 1/4 organic cornstarch. Store this mixture in an airtight container. To use, light brush on feet using a large brush designed for cosmetic powder application. Between gingers antibacterial properties and cornstarch absorbency, you will combat foot odor.

Basically, it is really hard to locate a natural skin care product which is 100% natural due to synthetic preservatives. These products which contain natural preservatives are all very expensive. Furthermore, these types of products last a shorter time on the store shelves and are a deterrent to those manufacturer them. Remember that natural skin care solutions can be just as dangerous to the skin as the synthetic product.

Natural skin care product choices should always be determined by three factors:

· The type of skin being treated whether it is normal, oily, dry, or sensitive.
· The way in which the product is applied (must be used properly).
· The climate in which the product is being used, for instance, an oil-free product should be used in hot and humid climates. You can also use a recipe for the skin care treatments and make one for yourself using organic fresh vegetables and fruits. You can find these recipes in book stores.

You can buy natural skin care cosmetics from Dr Hauschka natural cosmetics, to use on your skin; they are completely organic and natural.
